3 Amigos Tequila (www.3amigostequila.com) was awarded the highly coveted Platinum Medal and Consumer's Choice Award for its Organic Blanco Tequila at the sixth annual Spirits International Prestige (SIP) Awards competition held in Dana Point, CA in late April of this year. Additionally, this year's competition awarded 3 Amigos a Gold Medal for its Reposado tequila. This marks the third year 3 Amigos Tequila has brought home honors from the critically acclaimed SIP Awards. The SIP Consumer's Choice Award is presented to spirits brands that demonstrate the ultimate in quality to consumers year after year. This honor is reserved for brands that place (bronze or better) two consecutive years. The annual SIP Awards avoid industry bias by using actual consumers as its testers.

Organically & Sustainably Grown
At 3 Amigos Tequila we take pride in the fact that 100% of our agave is sustainably and organically grown producing tequila in its purest form. Over multiple generations, the Gonzalez has cultivated farming practices that naturally lend themselves to organic farming. That means our agave is grown without the use of chemicals or insecticides with sustainable farming practices that include the use of cattle and sheep that roam the land and help maintain a healthy balance between the soil and agave plants.
Our sheep and cattle are not only cute, but they play a vital role in the removal of weeds and overgrown cover crop. They replace the need for mowing and spraying harmful herbicides; they aerate the soil while continuously depositing nutrient rich fertilizer throughout our agave fields.
This is an earth-friendly and natural method of controlling weeds, insects and other pests. We don’t just farm this way because we think caring for the land is the right thing to do. It also happens to be the best way to make distinctive, authentic tequila. By treating our land the best way we know how, we’re making smooth and flavorful tequila that’s also friendly to the environment.

Interview with one of the Amigos by Taste the Dram
Tastethedram had the pleasure to speak to Ralph Gonzalez the COO at the 3 Amigos Tequila. Ralph is one of the amigos that took time out of his busy schedule to share some secrets with us.
Ralph, please tell us a little about yourself. What were you doing before you got into this business?
RG: We are a small family owned business that is based in the west outskirts of Phoenix, AZ. We are farmers for generations that started in Jalisco, Mexico and eventually brought that tradition and many others to the US in the late 1960’s. We got into the business because we believed having a quality product starts from the plant that you make it from and we knew we could grow the finest agave.

Polvadore Wins In Phoenix
Most Sportsman racers know all about drivers often snagging their initial win at a track they know extremely well. Thus, naturally, everything came together perfectly for Sun City, Ariz., native Bernie Polvadore at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. "That was a huge win," he said of his Super Gas triumph at the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals. "It's so difficult to do. It's a lot bigger deal than winning a divisional, at least it felt that way."
